The title of this film, a study of an approach to death in the awakening consciousness of a professor of Donne, is interesting in light of what you had to say.brdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09999205528107936871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10246709.post-39173473712457736162006-11-26T14:38:00.000-05:002006-11-26T14:38:00.000-05:00Michelle, Imani & Editor--What a great little flur...Michelle, Imani & Editor--What a great little flurry of further inspiration. I'm glad, Michelle, to have some Donne titles beyond the usual ones to turn to & yes, Imani, I thought the piece was very revealing about the kind of intellectual play that I loved so much in Possession.

Thanks!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03281027116636227323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10246709.post-6802739704414126082006-11-26T08:42:00.000-05:002006-11-26T08:42:00.000-05:00Hi, Anne.

I also subscribe to LRB and NYRB and well, let's just say there are too many acronyms in the world.

I held on to this particular edition too (for the Donne article). I got to it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed.

So much, in fact, that when I read it a line popped into my head: "Get it on with Donne!"

Which in turn, inspired a kind of silly poem called American Rhymes. I'd post it here, but there is a naughty word in it.

http://www.authorstore.com/weblog/poetry/donne_in_the_tls_and_american_rhymes.htmlAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07525910309127487283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10246709.post-66596549288741905802006-11-26T00:13:00.000-05:002006-11-26T00:13:00.000-05:00That was the same article that turned me on to Don...That was the same article that turned me on to Donne. "The Broken Heart" and "The Bait" (one of many spinoffs of Christopher Marlowe's "The Passionate Shepherd to his Nymph) stand out in my mind as some of his strongest works.Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05405664149403589996noreply@blogger.com
