Fitness

Like Dorothy, I'm finding myself back in the city and a bit out of shape for work and the semester to come. I have lots and lots of things to tell you about--cheese and Robert Louis Stevenson, Cowper!, books in Van Vorst Park, Tayari's amazing book, Roxana Robinson, poetry...

But after six weeks upstate, I'm in great physical shape (for me) and terrible bureaucratic shape. I come home exhausted and bleary. It took me an hour to make a dinner that ought rightly to have taken half that: I kept standing in front of open cabinets, open fridges, staring... Each thing I had to throw away took two tries: I tried to put paper in the garbage, garbage in the recycling, missed the bin for recyclable glass. You get the idea.

So I'm back but not back... More to come...

This may be a bit random, but is this perhaps Anne Fernald that taught at DePauw University several years ago? If not, I apologize for the post. But, given the "fit" of the content on this blog with your area of expertise, I am assuming this contact is accurate.

My name is Andrew Molnar. If my assumption is correct, I took a couple of your classes at DePauw. So, why did I do an "Anne Fernald, Woolf" search via Google? Well, my new roomie (yes, I am still in school) is an English Lit PhD student and has studied Woolf quite extensively in graduate school. Upon learning about his interest in Woolf we conversed about some of my favorite works by Woolf and I pondered, 'I wonder what Dr. Fernald is up to these days?'

My e-mail address is: aemolnar@gmail.com

Would love to hear from you if you have the time.

Best Regards,
Andrew Molnar

I'm curious what you have to say about Stevenson and Cowper! Hope you can settle in a little bit soon ...

Andrew, I can answer for Anne -- it is indeed the same person.

Anne, I've just returned from a (not-quite-so-long) trip and those comments ring amazingly true to me. However, I did manage to get back into the swing of blogging quickly -- the first post I wrote got picked up by Digg.com! Maybe your reacclimatization will be similarly swift.
